How to play winter break bingo
Winter break bingo is a challenge card, not a called game. Each square is an activity a child can do at home over the holidays: build a blanket fort, bake cookies, read a whole book, call a grandparent, write a thank-you note, try a new food, donate a toy you have outgrown, look for animal tracks. Kids mark a square each time they finish one, and a full line earns a small reward. Teachers send it home on the last day before break, and parents use it to answer "I'm bored" without handing over a tablet. The list mixes indoor and outdoor ideas, so it works whether you get snow or not, and none of the squares cost money.
- Print 1 card per page so kids have room to write the date in each square.
- Post the card on the fridge. Kids mark a square each time they finish an activity.
- A full line earns a small reward, such as picking dinner or a later bedtime. A blackout earns a bigger one.
- Teachers: ask students to bring the cards back after break and share their favorite square.
Tips for a better game
- Siblings each get a different card, so nobody copies and they can trade ideas.
- No snow where you live? Delete the snow squares and add local ideas like "Visit a park" or "Go to the beach".
- Keep a few squares open-ended, such as "Do a secret kind deed", so kids invent their own.
